Cutline Filter 1.11 Description:The Cutline Plug-In is a Photoshop plug-in which is intended for use on continuous tone gray scale images. The best results are seen with photos or illustrations with gradient blends.Cutline screens are a combination of line/dot screens. A standard line screen represents gray tones in a photo or illustration by varying the thickness of black lines on a white background. However, in the Cutline screen, as lines get thicker, angles 'cuts' appear in the lines, which cause them to break into dots.
The result is an effect that emulates the classic old world engraving and woodcut techniques.Cutline Filter 1.11 Features: Engraves selected parts of a grayscale photograph or illustration in 10 to 35 lpi. Range, customizable to higher or lower settings. Uses a unique directional engraving tool called the Stamper to set angles and curvature of engraved lines.
Effortlessly identifies and applies selected engraved lines to Highlight, Midtone and Shadow areas in an unselected grayscale image. Re-interprets gradients into engraved lines of varying width and shape. Hello, I am attempting to find or make a filter for photoshop that would give me lino/woodcut style images from my own photographs. Ideally this would involve something that would allow me to change the size, direction and shape of the marks rendered.I am aware of a plugin called cutline, which allows you to create traditional relief cut lines, but the drawback of this program is that it seems to render a series of hatches rather than individual 'cut' marks. What I would like to achieve is this:Any help is very much appreciated.Thanks. The thing you would like to achieve is not a filtered photograph. It's manually drawn. Filters will never make it look like that.I think the Cutline-filter you mention (although you might want to invert it to get white on black).Work with the settings the filter offers you, and also consider pre-processing your image (adjust the contrast/brightness and highlight/shadow clipping to better give you nice results with the filter).

Play around with it.You can also apply the filter with different settings for different areas of the image (use multiple masked layers). This can give you more control over the different parts of your image. The Quick Selection Tool is probably a great help here.:).
